Following reports of planned protests for and against the repossession of the Lekki tollgate, the Lagos State government is envisaging that these protests will lead to a breakdown of law and order on Saturday.
Citing insecurity and violation of Covid-19 regulations, the government is appealing to the two contending forces to halt plans to protest the ruling of the panel of inquiry.
Saturday’s ruling on the repossession of the Lekki tollgate has stirred controversy from different quarters splitting the judicial panel of inquiry into two.
Following the repossession order, youths have taken to the social media to express outrage and plan to #occupyLekkitollgate a protest against the reopening of the toll gate.
A counter-protest #DefendLagos also surfaced on the social media, on Thursday, with some youth planning to defend Lagos State.
