……. Condemns Incessant ASUU Strike

…… Insists ASUU shouldn’t back down untill demands are met

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANs zone F has appealed to the federal government to act as a matter of urgency to address all the demands of the Academic Staff Unions of University (ASUU)

This form part of the Union zonal resolutions reached in Umuahia, Abia state capital, insisting that Academic state university (ASUU) should not to go back on strike.

In a communique signed by the executives of the Union from the five South East states, it, although condemned the incessant strike actions by ASUU which is now about 5 months old and the lackadaistical approach of government in handling issues of ASUU, ASUP., COEASU, NASU and SSANU.

It called on federal government of Nigeria to settle the issues of payment shortfall raised by ASUU, to enable the students resume academic activities.

In the communique jointly signed by the Zone F Deputy Coordinator, Comrade PraiseGod Ejike and three others, enumerated the excruciating effect of ASUU incessant strikes on the Students and their families, according to them, it requires quick and effective response of the federal government to address the matter.

The student union body condemned the rising insecurity in the country that resulted to the recent attack on Kuje correctional facility Abuja, request that government should re-design the country’s security structure.

The Union, ” Commend Professor Chukwuma Soludo for his relentless efforts to contain insecurity in Anambra State, we condemned in it’s entirely the rising spate kidnapping, arsonists, banditory activities in the South East region of Nigeria”.

Zonal Executive Committee ZEC) NANS Zone F emphatised with management, Students of the Federal University of Science and Technology FUTO, Owerri and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka over the recent vandalisation of the school by unknown criminals.

The student leaders appealed to the school management to liaise with both state and federal governments to Beef up security on the campus

In an effort to ensure rights of students are not trampled upon, the NANS Zone F plans to relocate to the Federal Polytechnic Oko on 19th of July, 2022, over what it described as “failure of the Polytechnic management to conduct free, fair and credible election as Enshrined in NANS Constitution and alleged extortion of students”.

The student association charged school managements from interfering in the affairs to students union, claimed student unions should start enjoying similar privileges that ASUU, ASUP, SSANU enjoy on campuses.
